In Windows, there is a toolbar for your taskbar called “Links”. You can find it at:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Favorites\Links

The Links folder is also available the Start Menu if you enabled the “Favourites”, unsurprisingly as a sub-menu.

So my suggestion is, if you have folders that you commonly visit, via lots of clicking, why not put a short-cut to them in your link’s folder.

Then also, try putting another folder in your Favourites menu called “Applications”. Then you can put short-cuts to commonly used applications. This is kind of replicating what the QuickStart toolbar is for. Although if you have some applications you want quick access to, but don’t want them taking up space on your Quickstart menu, then this can be like a secondary QuickStart.
