Good morning,
I admitted defeat on permalinks for the moment, and went back to installing themes. I’d chosen a few last week, so I uploaded them all and chose one to use today. So here it is, (“Description 2.0″ from FreeWordpressThemes), what do you think? Seems this theme has read-more tags set by default. I think that’s okay.
I don’t like that this theme forces the title of the blog into lower case characters, which I think makes me look stupid. I’m sure that should be an easy thing to hack though. Also, as you may see, the comment box cuts right across the sidebars, that’s a deal breaker unfortunately.
This theme doesn’t give you a choice, you have to have two sidebars. So I used the second sidebar for my Friendfeed widget. Friendfeed is important to me, I do a lot of things in other “Web2.0″ services, and I think it’s a shame for it not to be shown somewhere. So I just see it as adding a multi-service micro-blog to my main blog, and this is what I think Friendfeed does so well, pull all those disparate web services together.
My only problem with the Friendfeed widget I’m using, is that if I upload a large batch of photos to Flickr, it will try to show all of them, which leads to ugly pages. I might try using the basic RSS widget instead.
